Patrick Dasgupta is currently the professor at department of Physics and Astrophysics in the Prestigious University of Delhi. He was also the ex-Hod at department of Physics and Astrophysics in the University of Delhi. He is a BITs Pilani Graduate and completed his PhD from TIFR Mumbai. He was a post-doctoral fellow at IUCAA, Pune. He visited University of Wales, Cardiff (UK) and Observatoire de Meudon, Paris as Senior Research Fellow. He was bestowed with the National Science Talent Award in 1981. His research interests include studies related to confirmation of the Hawking Area Theorem from the observed gravitational waves, proposing a unified model for Gamma-Ray Bursts and Fast Radio Bursts, Modeling dark energy, and mechanisms to generate supermassive black holes from Bose-Einstein condensation of bosonic dark matter.
